The Double-Slit Experiment

The double-slit experiment is the most replicated experiment in physics. When particles pass through two slits without observation, they create an interference pattern (wave behavior). When a detector observes which slit they pass through, the interference pattern collapses into two bands (particle behavior).

The key finding: observation itself changes the physical outcome. This is not interpretation — it is experimental fact, replicated thousands of times since 1927.

The Six-Step Deduction

Step 1: The Experiment — The double-slit experiment proves that observation affects physical reality. Detector OFF = wave pattern. Detector ON = particle pattern. Same particles, same slits, different outcome based solely on whether observation occurs.

Step 2: Sustained Observation = Sustained Reality — If observation is required for matter to manifest as particles (rather than probability waves), then sustained manifestation requires sustained observation. The universe doesn't flicker in and out of existence — it is continuously manifest. Therefore, continuous observation is occurring.

Step 3: The Universe Is 13.8 Billion Years Old — Cosmological observation confirms the universe has been continuously manifest for 13.8 billion years. Stars burn. Galaxies rotate. Chemistry proceeds. None of this pauses.

Step 4: The Eternal Observer — Combine Steps 2 and 3. If sustained observation is required for sustained manifestation, and the universe has been continuously manifest for 13.8 billion years, then there must be an observer that has been observing for 13.8 billion years. An observer that does not blink, does not sleep, does not lapse.

Step 5: This Observer Is Consciousness — What observes? In every experiment ever conducted, the answer is the same: consciousness. No unconscious process has ever been shown to collapse a wave function. The eternal observer is not a machine or a force — it is awareness itself.

Step 6: You Are That — If consciousness is the ground of all manifestation, and you are conscious, then your awareness right now is not separate from the eternal observer. It is the eternal observer, localized. A wave in the ocean is not separate from the ocean.

The Self-Reference Feature: Yes, using consciousness to investigate consciousness is circular. But this circularity is not a flaw — it is the signature of the phenomenon. Any non-circular definition of consciousness would, by definition, be describing something that isn't conscious. Self-reference IS what consciousness does.
